I've spent the last two days shooting a very stupid documentary comedy short that Ed Aczel and I have been cooking up for a while. Since just before Christmas we've been to-ing and fro-ing over an idea which I won't spoil too much here, other than to say that we were trying to get our heads around a project which was simultaneously a homage and a subversion of the tropes of documentary filmmaking. We had a lot of fun taking all our strange ideas about how to make a documentary about nothing and turning them into some sort of thing. A big thank you to our director Jonathan Brooks and to our special guests Alison Thea-Skot, John Kearns, Ben Target and Jacob Edwards, who were all fantastic. There are a few pick-ups and voiceovers we still need to get, and there's a lot of footage to sift through in the edit, so it might be a little while before the finished short is available to watch, but based on how silly and odd the stuff we shot this week was, I think it'll all come together into something pretty great. Now we have to start writing the 1-hour Christmas special.
