Next Up Filming

If you're on this website, you're probably already pretty comedy-savvy and probably already know what Next Up is. But just in case, here's a quick crash course - Next Up is a sort of Netflix for live comedy, a subscription-based streaming platform that hosts dozens of the very best live comedy shows from the last few years. For a small monthly fee you can access some of the very best shows from the Edinburgh Fringe and numerous other comedy festivals any time you want.

I had hoped to get Hello, Goodbye onto Next Up last year, but then realised the copyrighted music in the show was built too inseparably into the fabric of the show itself, and I couldn't have recorded a royalty-free version of the show without changing the meaning of several key sections, hence why I just put it up on Youtube and had to dub over that Bob Dylan bit. But this year I was careful to revise my use of music so that I fit in better with Next Up's requirements, and the good folks there came to see the show, loved it, and filmed it on the final day of the run. I'll confess I had my reservations about filming the final performance of an exhausting month-long run, but they were all put to bed by an absolutely glorious final performance playing to a packed-out house, and I'm now very pleased and proud that such a lovely performance of the show will be hosted for posterity alongside a bunch of legends and comedy royalty on Next Up.

Apparently the edit and so on will take 7 weeks or so, but sometime this autumn you'll be able to watch The Incredible Joz Norris Locks Himself Inside His Own Show, Then Escapes, Against All The Odds!! over here on Next Up. You need to be a subscriber to get access, but you can have a 30-day free trial, so why not try it out between now and 7 weeks from now to watch some of the brilliant shows and see how you like it?

Thanks so much to the guys at Next Up for filming the show and having it join their ranks, and thanks to that lovely audience on the final day for giving this show such a great send-off. It's been a real pleasure.
