In a couple of weeks I'll be helping to stage a work-in-progress rehearsed reading performance of a really wonderful new comedy play by the brilliant Ben Alborough and Harry Williams, entitled Ricky Riddlegang & The Riddle Gang. Last year Ben wrote the brilliant Cream Tea And Incest, a parody of P.G. Wodehouse, and Ricky Riddlegang applies the same daft imagination and smart gag-writing to all things Scooby Doo. The show is going to the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringes, though whether or not I'll be involved with either of those remains to be seen thanks to other commitments yet to be confirmed. Nonetheless, I've rehearsed the script once already and it's very funny, and even if this rehearsed reading is the only public performance of it that I'll be involved with, it'll be a pleasure to be a part of the show's development and to help bring it to life. I play a histrionic gardener and a kindly uncle, among other characters. It's being performed in the afternoon on Wednesday 20th February and more details of the event are here. I don't think it's a ticketed event as it's just a rehearsed reading, but come along if you're free!
