In 2023 I wrote a script about friendship and the pursuit of happiness which was nominated for the David Nobbs Memorial Trust New Comedy Writing Award and the Shortcom Sitcom Writing Competition. I teamed up with Ben Kent, director of ITV’s The Stand Up Sketch Show, and after a successful crowdfunder we filmed the script as an independent pilot which is now doing the rounds among various producers and commissioners – fingers crossed we might get to make more of it one day! It tells the story of two best friends with very different values and priorities in life whose assumptions about how to be happy are abruptly challenged by an unexpected discovery. And so they set out to try and do everything that anyone has ever attempted in order to be happy, to find out which one works best. The pilot was written by me and directed by Ben, and co-stars Kathy Maniura, Huge Davies, Rosalie Minnitt, Phil Ellis and Donna Preston.
