We Made A Sitcom Nobody Asked For
A couple of years ago, after a long time working on a script I was really proud of and shopping it around, I got tired of waiting for permission to make stuff. So I teamed up with director Ben Kent and a load of amazing comedians and artists, raised the money entirely from my own audience, and we made it ourselves.
At the time, I thought we were creating another blueprint for getting permission to make stuff. But I’ve since realised what it really is, and now we’re releasing it online, alongside a 3-part documentary series about how and why we made it, and what it means to make your own scripted projects.
The documentary episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays, starting this week, and the full pilot of The Happiness Chain will launch on the 5th of November!
I’m so proud of this thing we made, and of everyone who supported it, worked on it and helped make it brilliant. I’m excited to share the story of how it all came about, and I really hope you enjoy it!
The playlist where the whole series will be hosted can be found here, and you can subscribe to my channel if you’d like to be kept in the loop for new episodes!
I’m also hugely grateful to Zoe Paskett at LMAONaise who let me waffle on about giving yourself permission to make stuff in a guest feature for her newsletter, which you can read here if you’d like to learn more about the project! LMAONaise does a huge amount to support the indie comedy scene and are currently fundraising for a zine, which you can pre-order a copy of here.
